Watched these two movies yesterday. One (Kite Runner) I own on DVD and the other I watched on HBO. For some reason, there are some days I just would prefer to sit down and enjoy a foreign film (in terms of them not being based in USA/England/any other English speaking country). It gently reminds me that there is more than just action thrillers and romantic comedies out there. There are simply just stories. Another movie I would have loved to watch yesterday would have been The Pianist. Real stories of real people (although I don't know if Partition is a true story though).

Khalid Adballa. If I ever get to meet him, I'd run up to him and just give him a hug for such a great performance in the Kite Runner. Every time I watch the scene of him reading Hassan's letter, I break down and weep. It brought my mum to tears too and she doesn't shed a lot of them for movies. (not to mention it really makes me wanna go fly a kite ... in the best way possible)

As for Partition, I haven't seen it enough to come with a full opinion on it yet. It's just more amusing for me to see Kristin Kreuk as an Indian/Muslim woman. Although she does it pretty well. And the fact that it's Jimy Mistry as Gian Singh, pulls me to watch this movie even more. But it's ending is pretty screwed up. Totally ruined the movie for me although others may disagree. Sometimes you just need to have a happy ending, or if not, then at least don't make the sad ending end in a stupid way. Plus it's better than your average Bollywood flick. They don't break into song in this one. Haha.

Gonna have a 2nd game of badminton with Nisha (& Anne) tomorrow. Hopefully the court won't be as booked/full as it was on Friday. Seeing as it's a holiday, it might just be. So we're gonna try to go at lunchtime when everyone's busy stuffing their faces >=D My right arm still hasn't recovered from Friday's game. Thanks to not warming up. But I still got it. Badminton remains Alison's only sport she's good at actually playing. Wish I could go swimming but there's hardly any decent pools around here without people and their bazillion children cannonballing as though as it's Ulu Yam or something. Plus no one really wants to go swimming D:
