I may have
8:16 PM
I may have almost burned my house down (yeah, I had a cooking accident. Lesson learned. Never leave the stove even just for 5 minutes. No duh) but I have emerged victorious and suddenly came into an old obsession: the wedge.
I admit, I don't have as many as I hoped I would have by now. Sadly I remain financially set back in terms of investing in killer wedges/shoes. I still haven't gotten that pair of amazing boots which I can actually walk in let alone my normal usage of wedges.
Anyway, I just had to go google more info on them just for my own satisfaction. When you can't own them. read up on them!

The wedge shoe was invented (designed) by Ferragamo (the Italian shoe making legend) in the 1930s. At the time he was making and designing shoes by hand for women. What was so cool about Ferragamo, and why he's a legend, is that he studied anatomy in order to make better shoes. Shoes that were comfortable as well as beautiful was his ideal design. He started making shoes by hand and even as his company grew the quality and workmanship remained incredible. While many of his shoes were very funky, most were exquisitely beautiful. His unique ideas transformed shoes and with his invention of the wedge, women were walking taller without wobbling as much.

Advantages of Wedge Heels:
- These shoes add height, but are easier to walk in than stilettos. (Oh yeh baby. I'm sold)
- Worldly and eye-catching, wedges have a very cosmopolitan look about them.
- A wedge heel looks great with nearly any length skirt or dress.
- Wedge heels, by nature, are a fashionable choice; by just choosing to wear them, you up your fashion quotient.
- Wedges will add definition and shape to heavy ankles, making them appear thinner. (anything which slims is approved by me as you'd notice lol)
Cons of Wedges:
- Wedge heels are still heels, with all their pitfalls. Don't be fooled into thinking you can run a marathon in them. (damn here I was thinking I could run across the plaza at uni in one while waving my 5kg laptop in the air. Capt. Obvious)
- Wedges can look a little clunky, especially when paired with very tight-fitting clothing. (I disagree! I do it all the time with my skinnies/tights!)
- Wedge heels tend to work best on shoes that are more on the casual side. While there are dressier styles of wedges, finding a truly elegant one can be a bit difficult.
- Thick wedge heels will make really skinny ankles appear even thinner.

At least I can attend BodyJam tomorrow without looking like a fool with half a shoe gone like I did today.
