It's a marvel

Been a busy few days. I haven't been able to sit down and think about them properly to document them lately.

I've had the good times of spending my iftars with good friends in new places. I went to a Pakistani restaurant in downtown KL called Mirchi 360. We ordered quite an amount of food (of which all their names escapes my memory now) and spent a good 2 hours there. It was a little difficult finding the place since I am not too familiar with KL and we had little directions to work on. But once we got there, the evening flowed pretty smoothly from there.

Merdeka is approaching slowly as well. The end of August sees the Malaysian crowd to roam around with their jalur gemilangs in all forms, shapes and sizes. I hope this year around, my Merdeka will be spent doing more than just flipping channels at home and listening out to the fireworks around me. I'd actually like to be in the heart of the action for once. For instance, my World Cup was spent in Bukit Bintang with Ziad, Enam, Prakash and co. with an enjoyable environment with great people. I never had the chance before and I suppose it's because my folks now have the security of knowing I'm in safe hands *scoffs* and that I'd be taken care of. I digress.

I'm really enjoying my semester so far so I think that's pretty awesome. It'll be a month soon since it resumed and that's pretty insane. Time flies way too fast here.

Move Shake Drop!

Went to watch this yesterday with Ziad in Times Sq. Considering I HATED the previous 2 movies. 1 was ok. 2 was just a waste of time, I was very skeptical about paying extra for 3D glasses to watch another movie which I would be bound to hate.

However, I was mildly amused by the choreography in this edition of the Step Up series. Thankfully there's no "OMG CHANNING TATUM" from teen girls who just hit puberty next to me but rather another couple who seemed to "Oooh! Ahhh!" from every dance step performed. However the movie was pretty alright so to speak. Storyline: Cheesy, Script: Even Cheesier but I think the dance moves (which I suppose is the essential element to the movie) were ... SICK! I was glued to the screen just watching them dance it off especially in 3D and the way it was filmed for the 3D industry was even more boom boom pow. So that was fun.

I guess if you were someone looking for a epic script and mind blasting storyline, Step Up 3D isn't your thing but if you wanna marvel at the human body for it's amazing abilities in the world of dance, this is right up your alley. I loved this movie for that aspect alone. Other than that ... mmm, the comedic timing was pretty alright too. Especially those Santiago Twins :D

I hope you roll over and hurt

How do you prevent someone from being mean to you? I don't mean like being picked on by a bully or anything physical but merely words said by close friends/loved ones. Maybe they don't realise it but sometimes small words they say can be misinterpreted into something really malicious sounding. Happens most of the time to me. I don't get why people have to be so short and rather rude about stuff. No harm in just making statements politely. I don't mind if they're mean to people that don't concern us or people we don't really know but when you've known someone for a particularly long time, it puzzles me why you feel that you can exercise the right to be rude and all messed up in what you say. It's really unnerving. I can't stand it. No matter who it is. No one gives you the right to be damn rude to someone who's been nice.

Maybe I'm just too soft. Can't handle harsh words. Whatever. Guess I better grow some backbone

Can't wait to go.

Back to work!

I'm sure I am not the first non-Muslim in the world who has attempted fasting along with the others during this holy month according to the Islamic calendar. However, it is my own personal goal to at least understand what the majority of the population and certainly the rest of it's followers around the world go through during this time. I have so many doubts about myself already that I won't be able to last throughout the day without a single drop of water into my system. Then again, why should I be complaining? People perform their fasts at even harsher conditions than my own. What am I missing out on? Perhaps skipping gym, unless I decide to go right before Iftar (breaking fast) so that I can get into the rhythm at the right time. I'll think about it tomorrow. However, it is a good time for me to spend my allocated "eating" time in completing more important tasks such as sketching out ideas for CAD392 and coming up with some videos for Multimedia Intro.

In any case, I would like to wish my fellow Muslim friends and family a very happy Eid Mubarak as well as a great Ramadhan month. It'll be loads of fun.

From this moment

Well, it's been 2 weeks since Uni commenced. Assignments are piling up now and it's a little scary as far as I'm concerned about the workload. TV commercials, radio ads, more print ads ... only now with the pressure of being a senior, you're expected to create flawless work. And I don't know if flawless is my style. I'm a chipped teapot (oh God, what a comparison). I'm gonna do my best of course but I just hope the best is enough at this point.

Did a little bit of shopping today ... with Dad's money lol. Got myself a pair of skinny jeans (insert laugh here) and a pair of white north star canvas shoes (ala Rempit style) ... kidding. As in the tall white converse lookalikes. Just wanna show the world how hipster I can be. All I need now is a t-shirt with a gigantic triangle on it with some Ray Ban shades (OMG I already have those!). Oh well, whatever works. I'll make it work Tim Gunn style.

Will attempt to brave the halls of the Immigration Office of Putrajaya tomorrow (cue horror music). Yes, I face ... dramatic pause ... the Government Worker! LOL. I'll be heading down there tomorrow with Ziad to get my passport renewed. It's about time anyway if I'm gonna head down-unda for the break. It's such a hassle too and with Ramadhan going on, it'll give them extra reasons to be grumpy. I should probably put on a hijab and be all huffy as well ... :P No offense intended. Although govt workers are somewhat of a hassle.

In other errand news, Road Tax renewal as well. All these ... ugh.

Ahoy Dar Mate!

LOVING THE NEW LOOK!

It's about time I go crispy clean. Hope everyone else likes it.

Need a change

There's something about a home like this which just gets me talking nonstop. It's simply stunning all over and I can't seem to stop looking. Here's why:
  1. From the top. The wooden beams on the ceiling is always a personal fave. It adds so much more eclecticism to the look. It's mod, chic and still very rustic.
  2. Shelves on the left and right provides the space that everyone needs. Knowing me, I have tonnes of crap ... I mean- stuff which I need to store.
  3. The loft bed also adds some identity to this space. It completely makes it. It's beyond cool, I can't even explain it. I suppose one can basically understand why this is a plus point. Especially if you're a young adult with no children, this bed is super excellent. Plus, hopefully no friends from Uni will come barging up your room.
  4. Dining table with white chairs. It's so simple yet effective. You can practically seat 6 people at this table. And I know for sure I need way less seating capacity but knowing that I can accommodate this large amount at my expense, I love it!
  5. Compact kitchen. I assume that space next to the sleeping space is the kitchen. I can sorta see some appliances on the right. It's fantastic as the light spills into the whole home from these very tall windows. I love a home with ample amounts of light. It could however use some blinds for those rather gloomy days lol. There's STILL some more seating space at the counter as well!
  6. The living space has a large coffee table and comfortable sofa just waiting for someone to sink in. There's not a lot of colour going on so that's a real pleasing factor to this. Not to mention that the sofa looks like it can house a guest at night too as it looks rather deep.
  7. Lastly, the floors. White. Wooden paneling and clean. Enough said. Fab.
So yeah, 7 reasons why Alison needs a home like this in a few years. The hunt shall begin!

Went to iCity again yesterday with Uncle John & Family / Uncle Stephen & family / Mum and Michelle. They wanted to take a look at it since it's all pretty much hyped up. I thought the commotion about it would have died down by now but it seems that iCity is still pretty much a ... traffic nuisance if you live in the area. Not to mention parking is now charged RM10. Oh yeah. Luckily that meant a RM10 coupon off any F&B outlet in the city. We had some drinks at Gasoline. Ohayaa Japaneezy style. Ok, it was just a bunch of us sitting on the floor basically.

I'm too lazy to point out who is who, so just bear with me as I say from the left:
Auntie Rani, Auntie Pat, Uncle John, Joshua, Matilda, Melissa, Natalie, Seraphina, Jasmine, Mum, Michelle and Me ... and Uncle Stephen behind the camera.

Needless to say, I'm never intending of having this many children around me ... or belonging to me :D (lucky for me, Seraphina bent down, or I'd be humiliated by my lack of ... height)

Beautiful Monster

Finally got myself up to date with my music today. My latest conquests:

Neyo - Beautiful Monster & Hurt Me
Jay Sean (ft. Nicki Minaj) - 2012
Katy Perry - Teenage Dream
HURTS - Better Than Love
KT Tunstall - Push That Knot Away
Bruno Mars - Just The Way You Are
David Archuleta - Something About Love.

So that was semi productive. Went to the gym and proudly tried jogging again in Kemuning after a solid 6 months. I can jog the whole length of it now while holding a proper conversation with someone. That's what probably put the biggest smile on my face today. I'm also FINALLY getting Microsoft Office installed in all PCs and Laptops in the house. It would seem obvious that I should have them already but all our OSs came with OpenOffice instead.

Back to Limkokwing tomorrow to get my schedule for this semester. I le tremble at the thought and hope that I get civilised times/days this time around. I wouldn't mind a 3 day week at Uni lol. But knowing them, they'd probably curse me to a 5 day week at uni while others get as little as 2. But who knows, let's hope for the best.

Been making plans to go back to Melbourne this break to take my mind off things and to hopefully distract me of the loss of loved ones who will also be traveling elsewhere this vacation. It'll be a tough one to swallow I admit.
