Ra-ra-ra ah ah. Roma-roma-maa. Gaa-gaa-oo-la-laa .. I want nasi lemak.
8:44 AM
Had a very good CNY/V-day weekend. Spent it with all my closests and dearests.
1. CNY Reunion ... Lunch.
Spent it in PJ with Popo and Epo. They cooked up a feast. There was Chicken and Prawns and Fish and all sorts of Veggie dishes and soup. Sadly I could only as far as sample the palette as I promised myself to watch my eating habits this festive season.
2. Chinese New Year / V-day
Of course, I'd be caught reading the weekender instead of greeting guests. Oops.
"long life, healthy life, wealthy life, happy life, your life, not my life." lol.
Went down to PJ again, this time with the additional company of Ziad and Phentia (Michelle's classmate). We were careful enough not to wear black or anything somber or Popo would have had our heads rolling. Granduncle and his sons came down as well as usual and had the same chit-chat as they always do every year. Same questions ("Oh you're still in Limkokwing?" / "How is your course coming along?" / "What course are you doing again?") and the same routine. We stayed till about 2 before departing for Shah Alam. Ah, home sweet home. Thank God I don't need to travel long boring hours to get to my hometown.
Walking along the esplanade
Later that day, mum and dad decided to take a slow drive down to Port Klang. Along the way, we got lost (as you could imagine) but found the town of Klang rather interesting. Ziad said it reminded him of Pakistan and dad agreed that we've found Little Karachi in the heart of Klang. It even had a huge mosque with the flag of Pakistan in front of it. Of course, this tickled Ziad funny. Loads of little Indian shops all over the place. Loads of punjabi suits, shalwar kameez, pewter cutlery, pots, loud music, loads of bikes, men holding hands crossing the street, women staring at us like they've never seen another human being, ah ... the wonders of Little India/Pakistan/Klang/Mah Peeps/etc ... :) I love being a Klang-ite.
When we DID eventually find the esplanade which apparently has changed it's name to Tanjung Harapan in the last many years we haven't visited, we walked along the shore admiring and discussing about the atmosphere. How loads of Malay/Indian families came here with a whole picnic at hand and how the sea was not as clean as it was a decade ago. Figures as much as the shore was littered with Styrofoam boxes and plastic cups and bottles. People, when you're done with your picnics, please do clean up after yourselves. After all, there are no mer-janitors unda da see.
Dinner consisted of, cabbage, prawns and a fish. Dad is impressed. LOL.
After that, we had dinner at The Lotus in Klang. Mmyum I love me some Indian food.
3. Hulu Yam Yam Yam your boat ...
Woke up early the next morning for a drive down to Ulu Yam. I haven't been here in the last decade or so myself so I had to drive behind dad all the way. Needless to say, we got lost. Again. I think it's high time we bought ourselves a GPS to spare us all the emotional heart ache. LOL. We stopped a few times to ask for directions. Finally, we found the place and it was packed to the brim. People everywhere. Every park was almost filled with families from all over with their camping gear. We drove and drove till we found a semi abysmal stream. Ziad and I walked along it to see if we could find anything interesting, and ended up giving up and just sitting down on some rocks while I washed my feet with sand and water and watched people bathe in the stream with shampoo and soap. When I saw a girl come by with clothes and did her laundry, I was done.
We stopped at town to have lunch and the shopkeeper was nice enough to tell us of a better fall to go to. So we drove a little further till we got to an absolutely fantastic stream. It was off the path and empty (when we got there anyway) so we just jumped right in. Great day it was. Really awesome.
4. i-City
Now, what is i-City you ask? Let's wiki it up.
I-City or I-City Selangor (formerly Sumur City) is a new townships in Klang Valley region, Selangor, Malaysia. This new township is located at Section 7 in Sungai Rasau between Bandar Baru Klang, Klang and Shah Alam. I-City is well connected from/to the Federal Highway. This townships is a site of the former Sumur City Aerospace Adventure exhibition centre in 1995.
The RM1.5 billion I-City project will play a three-pronged role in attracting more people to Selangor’s capital city, Shah Alam: It will attract local and foreign tourists with its up-and-coming leisure related activities; knowledge workers with the establishment of an innovative multimedia centre; and shoppers with its retail and entertainment components.
A main part of the project’s allure will be a RM40 million 1,000ft-long dynamic pedestrian corridor named CityWalk, which will be the first of its kind in the region to utilise a multimedia programmable “sound and light” display to create a unique ambience. Designed by United States based architect Jon Jerde, CityWalk will be launched in the first quarter of this year and is expected to be completed by the end of 2007.
Now, that you have a general idea, here are some stunning images from the location.

5. My name is Khan, and I am not a terrorist.
Went to Pyramid this morning to watch My Name is Khan and it was the longest line ever for the movies. Bumped into an old friend there. Waited for the reservation tic to be released as it was sold out. Good movie. Review comes later. Then we drove to Desaria where Ziad had to meet a new student from Karachi to guide her (and her mum around) while I hung out with Farid and Esfand. Then I spoke to her for a while and exchanged numbers with her in case she needed any help.
Great weekend. Loved it to bits. Now back to the routine.
