Is wanting out out out!

Really feel like going to the beach. Gave Ziad a text last night (at the ungodly hour of 3AM) randomly asking if we could go to the beach. It'd be very inexpensive and a good chance to get out of the boring ol Cyber/Shah Alam environment. We could go big group style or just the both of us. Whatever works. I want out this sem break.

Been listening to the likes of Taio Cruz and David Guetta these last few days. Wouldn't it be a great idea if they did a piece together? *hint* Got an interview for a Jr. Graphic Designer job at Kinetic Communications in Bangsar tomorrow. Let's hope I'm not incompetent and am able to find the place. LOL *prays to the Lord of GoogleMaps* Got my portfolio ready ... my resume in check. Phrawr!

Ah, how I'd like a hamster again. I do miss Alonso (who is just like these) Syrian Hamsters. I love you so. Inexpensive, easy, ever so enjoyable and just ZOMG!CUTE. Did I mention they were inexpensive? Lol. Somehow I love anything which has "cheap" in it for the next few weeks. I've been spending too much cash on stuff, I need to take a break. Op Shops are your best friend. We need more of them in Malaysia seriously.

It may not be the stylish of places to shop, but you really do get a lot of good stuff from Op shops. Half my ... ok PART of my wardrobe comprises of pieces I've found from Op Shops from Australia. Lovely stuff too. From tops, dresses, belts, accessories etc ... everything. Why don't we have more of them here? And if we do, it's where people discard rubbish and not secondhand items.

Anyway, here's another thing I want to experiment with : NAIL ART.

Hmmm there's an idea.

How to Create a Fashion Vision Board

Step 1: Reflect on your current style.

I’ve noticed this past year I have been super trendy and have purchased everything from houndstooth pieces to rompers to clunky statement rings. While this has been fun and all, unfortunately, keeping up with the trends on my budget usually means sacrificing quality. I’ve been buying tons of trinkets and things at cheap stores like Forever 21. This isn’t necessary a terrible thing, but I’ve realized (for me) it’s much better to spend my money on classic, high-quality pieces.

Step 2: Find an affirmation which summarizes your goal.

Okay, so now that you have the basic idea of what direction you want your style to go in, you next want to find a simple statement or affirmation to include as the central idea for your vision board. I like to do this because I can’t exactly lug my vision board around with me when I’m out shopping, but having a quote to remember will remind you of your vision board and whatever style goals you’ve made! My statement this year is a quote by French writer Stendhal who said:

“Only great minds can afford a simple style.”

This statement reminds me I am on the hunt for classic, well-made pieces that will last me a long time and are considered investment garments. It’s not always easy to stay away from flashy, trendy pieces, but it’s worth the extra effort.

Step 3: Expand your ideas and find catch words.

You need to have some specifics in mind when creating your vision board, so you have a clear idea of what to look for when you’re out shopping or purging your closet. For me, following Stendhal’s quote means keeping things simple with smart, practical clothes. (It does NOT mean I have to go boring and drab, though!) I also want to buy items that are figure-flattering and structured. Catch words like these should definitely be a part of your vision board!

Step 4: Find pictures and put together your vision board!

The friend I mentioned earlier did her collage on a poster board, but I decided to make it on the computer. (You can do this with Photoshop or Gimp, or you could also use Polyvore!) I found a bunch of pictures that adhered to my goal, put it all together and have posted the result below! I had a great time making it, and I’m sure you’ll have fun making yours, too.

It might be fun to get a few friends together and actually make fashion vision boards together on poster board. You could also make your vision board on corkboard in your room and constantly change out pictures and quotes as your style evolves – the more personalized, the better!

Hmm.

*not mine

While the rest of the world (and the majority of my peers) are out at the local cafes/mamaks/or just at home in their living rooms watching Italy most probably kicking the shit out of Paraguay, I find myself sitting in my bedroom with the lights out and it is solely illuminated by the screen of my slowly decaying laptop. Alas, the World Cup has arrived and my enthusiasm for it has dipped so low, I feel really bad sometimes and slap myself for calling myself a football fan. It would seem that my mind has mentally blocked out the view of a football pitch so much that everytime I see one on the screen, I fall asleep. I have fallen asleep at EVERY match I've watched so far that it's not even funny. Yeah, I realise some games are at 2AM and anyone would fall asleep but I'm talking about the 8PM games as well. The moment I glimpse green turf, Zzzzzzz. I don't get it. Then I wake up again ... only to fall asleep again at the next game. Seriously. However I did manage to watch Germany kick Aussie butt till the 87th minute ... before falling asleep ... again. Great game. I'm so proud of Die Mannschaft :D

Had a somewhat productive day today. Went to the gym for 2 hours. Got my gossip on with the local members ... OK mum did not me. I don't bother talking while I'm at Fitness First. I just listen. Read Shape magazine for the first time and loved it. Discussed about why science stream and arts are so badly exploited in Malaysia with them since they found out I am in a University of Creative Technology. It was a very good talk to get the older generation to open up their minds more. They were very pleased to get information from my side as well. Plus I was happy that Mum got a little knowledge about the outside world as one auntie talked to her about how "this isn't the 60's anymore. Now Malaysia is different lah." talk. Got my Intro to Internet journal notes and sketches printed out and stuff. I even took the time to colour some sketches with the longtimenoused markers from Illustration. Sometimes I'm really pleased that I bought those at ridiculous prices back then ... they certainly serve a better purpose to me now lol. Then I went to Putrajaya bridge again with Ziad to film some stuff for the family event coming up soon. Before settling for some down time back home in Shah Alam.

As one would imagine. It is now 3AM. I can't sleep. I think I should turn on the TV and look at more grass. LOL. Guarantee Tido. Goot night.

When love takes over.

effects of world cup fever = nail biting. Oh well, in any case I'm with Germany (as everyone would guess) tonight. ... if I can keep my eyes open long enough to watch the game :D

This is the true nature of a man

Had a good day out with Ziad today. Went to Cyber from 5PM - 3AM. Yes, three am. Took a bus from P.Jaya Central to Alamanda with a scenic tour of Putrajaya first. It was such a relief not to have to drive around there. I don't mind it but I wasn't in the mood to drive. We walked around Alamanda for a few hours before making our way back to Cyberjaya again. Drove around a little more, had dinner at Mak Teh and then drove to Cyber Heights to walk around the lake area (with a stunning view as pictured above) before returning home at the late hour of 3AM. It was a fantastic day out. I really needed it.

On a darker note, I've been feeling very uninspired as of late. I feel that my role as a designer is somewhat vague now as I don't have the spark in me anymore to create. I just feel like chucking my ideas into the bin and walking off at some point but I do realise that if I want this successful career in design that I crave for, I'd have to work a little harder and complain less. Easier said than done. I wish I had an exam to study for now instead of coursework like this.
