We came, we ditched and we loved it.

There's nothing quite like it. Raving. I suppose if you put yourself in a semi stampede but everyone moves to the same rhythm and beat with the same euphoria of the melody and bass thumping all around you. That's pretty much how it feels. You feel yourself just losing all sense of feeling around you except pure elation (and if you're sober like I was) laced with sweat and heat. But there's nothing quite like it. I love the sensation. The uplifting moments followed by smooth waves ... then by the inevitable crash that follows the show. Everyone leaves the venue looking like zombies but ... satisfied zombies. I had the best time at ASOT600 Kuala Lumpur at the Sepang International Circuit.
I got there at 5PM just in time to catch the last few bits of the Warm Up Set which had a lot of minimal dark progressive pieces which really got me going. Stuff like Peter Portal & Incolumnis Tecabrali. A whole fairly unknown bunch of tracks which was just a joy to listen to at such levels. I got myself a small box of sushi just because I felt like I needed the carbs and protein to last the night. I drank a relatively sane amount of water to make sure I could at least go halfway without feeling like passing out.
Oh yeah did I mention there were a LOT of relatively fit men (and women) surrounding the area? ;) |
Absolutely scorching. But well worth it. |
I was super pleased I got to catch Ben Gold spinning for the first time and I have to say it's a shame he was the first one to start the show. He was too good for a mediocre (yet pumped up) crowd. I was pretty much alone for most of the time until I bumped into a duo of boys who were enjoying themselves. We started to speak and turns out, we've got tonnes in common! That's when I met my music twin Hossein :D
Super cool guy. He's got an amazing taste in music AND the cutest dog in the world: Toby! I honestly challenge anyone to find me a dog which is cuter than this little shambele joonam. So while we were dancing I was so sure I was on the verge of passing out due to the fact I had so little sleep the night before and that water I had in the beginning was running its course. We both went to get ourselves rehydrated and to our dismay, the line for water was a little too long and I was prepared to lie down (lol), we walked a little further and managed to spot a Red Bull counter and chugged down multiple cans of the stuff. I don't know if it was good for me but it DID keep me pumped up for the rest of the nights
So it was a pretty awesome event all in all and I am really glad I got to see Armin Van Buuren in the flesh FINALLY. Not to mention Aly & Fila, W & W, Super8 & Tab, Ben Gold and Cosmic Gate :) Super amazing night and I won't be quick to forget it.
Thank You Armin Van Buuren and the A State of Trance 600 Kuala Lumpur team for hosting the biggest rave in SEA!
